In The Syndicate, Anastasia Siten goes through the course of her day working in an office 9-5 job, ending with her being fired. Off the bat, she is running late to work and arrives flustered and stressed. Becoming more undone with her hair and makeup being more lived in and even distressed, the story concludes with Siten in tears leaving the office allowing the viewer to interpret why she was fired: Was she just a bad employee or is there something more sinister going on?
Inspired by the day-to-day life of a “finance bro” and the sinister nature of large corporations, the name “Syndicate” can either be defined as “an association of people or firms formed to promote a common interest or carry out a business enterprise,” or “a loose affiliation of gangsters in control of organized criminal activities.” Photographed by Simran Kaur with creative direction and fashion by Talitha Howden.
