Just last week, Chanel presented its Spring/Summer 2027 collection under a towering aviary of 95 suspended, glowing birds hanging from the Grand Palais. What that light there offered — apart from a fascinating look at the latest wardrobe — was a rather appealing dilemma: stay with a barely-there lip, or bring out the red?
Newly appointed Creative Makeup Director Lucia Pieroni curated a beauty look that moved between luminous skin, soft washes of colour and flashes of gold. The starting point for the entire cast — including house ambassadors Bhavitha Mandava and Jacqui Hooper — was an imperceptible, radiant skin base that looked like a great night’s sleep. Pieroni’s team achieved this effortless finish using Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch and the hydrating Les Beiges Serum Concealer, letting the models’ natural complexions breathe. Joues Contraste Intense in Beige Éclatant brought warmth to the cheeks, while Baume Essentiel appeared in three finishes: Transparent, Sculpting and Pearlescent. Neige d’Or, from the Holiday 2026 collection, added another luminous touch to the look.

Against this fresh-faced canvas, the gaze was shifted through strategic bursts of texture and graphic definition. The eyes received a clean wash of Ombre Essentielle Multi-Use Longwearing Eyeshadow in N°230 Gris Paris, bringing a shimmering, metallic silver sheen to the lids that felt modern without tipping into retro drama. Brows were neatly framed using the Stylo Sourcils Haute Précision. The lips delivered the ultimate pivot; Pieroni alternated between a clean swipe of Rouge Coco Baume in N°912 Dreamy White for an understated finish and a striking, velvet red lip using Rouge Allure Velvet in 57 Rouge Feu and 56 Rouge Charnel. The bold saturation provided an endearing contrast to the collection’s airy, floating fabrics.

So, what exactly is the Chanel backstage lesson this season? A clean, elegant look doesn’t have to stick to one mood or lipstick — just like the Chanel woman doesn’t remain the same throughout eras.

A mind blowing bohemian rhapsody, an electro pop parade of ebony and rouge lace dresses, fluctuating in length and see-sawing in neckline at Elie Saab.
