year of the dragon | breguet ‘classique’ take on the lunar new year

As a way to mark the Chinese Lunar New Year, renowned timepiece makers Breguet are unveiling their latest take on a Chinese zodiac-inspired watch with the “Dragon.” The watch, which is part of their ‘Classique’ collection, differs from last year’s “Rabbit” which was a ladies’ watch, is an ultra-thin men’s watch in two variations — Classique 7145 and 5345 models — with one featuring striking red and rose gold adornments with the other featuring a subtle silver/gold two-toned look.

The Swiss luxury watchmaker’s new timepieces, aptly named the Classique Double Tourbillon Dragon 5345 Special Edition and the Classique Dragon 7145 Limited Edition, demonstrate Breguet’s dedication to technical and artistic craftsmanship. The intricate details — from the rose gold dragon protecting a white mother-of-pearl pearl or the gold dragon slinking across the watch dial — speak to the luxury brand’s particular eye for bringing together something as historic as the Chinese zodiac and opulent timepieces. With the wearer on their minds, Breguet also offers unique watch personalisation which provides watch lovers with the chance to decide the dragon’s shape, colour, hands, straps, and beyond.

Within the rose gold case measuring 40mm, you’ll find the self-winding Calibre 502.3 movement, boasting a mere thickness of 2.40 mm and offering a power reserve of 45 hours. This movement incorporates silicon components, elevating its resistance to magnetic fields and enhancing precision. The sapphire caseback reveals a gold oscillating weight adorned with a hand-guilloché circular barleycorn motif.

Both timepieces are available now through appointment only at breguet.com.
