The photography and directing duo Markus&Koala, who were behind the shoot of Schön! magazine’s 26th issue cover star Lucy Liu, are due to showcase some of their eclectic photography collection on the 5th of December at the National Hotel in Miami. In an exhibition titled Role Model, the duo ‘creates a unique visual universe where glamorous, high fashion and street/youth culture elements blend in vibrant harmony.’ Role Model is inspired by a combination of vintage fashion and the current phenomena of image sharing on social media.
French-Hungarian Markus who incidentally happens to be a classical harp soloist decided to pursue his passion for photography in 1994, after receiving the “Grand Prix du Disque” for his last recording with the Paris Opera Bastille Orchestra. While Markus’s signature style is associated with glossy 70’s and 80’s inspired photographs, Koala puts her more modern and cutting edge imprint on them. The result of which is a remarkable ability to capture the subject’ raw and emotional energy. This is evident in the photographs of Dita von teese, portrayed as the sultry doyenne of burlesque that she is and the iconic Daphne Guinness.
As well as being the title of the photography exhibit, Role Model is also the name of the upcoming coffee table book by Markus&Koala. The book which will include a variety of celebrities, athletes and famous personalities will be an extension of the exhibition and is currently slated for release in early 2016.
