Creating images using two different mediums is something photographer Matthieu Hoarau uses throughout his work. His obsession with photography bleeds into his love of illustration, collaging and painting, something he mixes with his first obsession. With the rise of AI, Hoarau questions its place in art — wondering if it is something that will kill creativity.
His answer? This beauty editorial, shot and photographed by him in a studio with model Eliza with hair and make up by artist Jeanne Schneider. During retouching, Hoarau used AI elements to elevate the imagery; blurring the lines between what is true and false. In his words: There is a bit of truth in lies and a bit of lies in truth — this is a visual representation of this.
