Photographed by Han Yang, Xenobotany presents flowers, plants, and fungi as strange and unfamiliar forms of life, challenging traditional botanical representation. Through subtle changes in scale, texture, and context, all depicted through the fashion by Lauren Croft and the set design by Abbie Siu, the series transforms familiar organic subjects into ambiguous, difficult-to-classify bodies. Fungi, in particular, suggest a model of life that is adaptive, interconnected, and beyond conventional categories. Using minimal compositions and controlled lighting, the work creates a quiet but unsettling atmosphere that questions how we define nature, otherness, and the relationship between human and nonhuman life.
