telekom electronic beats | 25 years of sound and subculture

Telekom Electronic Beats celebrated its 25th anniversary on 28 May with a packed event at CANK, a former department store in Berlin-Neukölln. The programme brought together a mix of high-profile acts and local collectives, reflecting the platform’s long-standing focus on electronic music and youth culture across Europe.

Headlining the night was British artist FKA twigs, who presented her Eusexua Rave performance in Germany for the first time. The piece, a blend of electronic music, choreography and visuals, was developed together with DJ Dr. Rubinstein. Also on the lineup were Boys Noize, Fuffifufzich, and Wolfram, as well as the collectives E.P.I.Q. and Layers (bae2bae), whose sets opened up the space to a broader range of sounds and styles.

“Performing at this evening with Telekom Electronic Beats was something I really loved,” said FKA twigs. “It’s always a gift to be connected with others who love music.” The event drew an international crowd and featured photography by Mark Hunter, also known as Cobrasnake. Video messages from artists including Ellen Allien, Carl Craig, and Chilly Gonzales were shared throughout the night.

Launched in 2000 by Deutsche Telekom, Telekom Electronic Beats is one of the longest-running brand-led music platforms in Europe. “We will continue to support youth cultures with inspiring concepts — digitally, immersively, and within cultural spaces. Our goal is to ignite excitement through sincere, eye-level conversations, as this is where creative thinking and real relevance take root,” said Ralf Lülsdorf, founder of the programme and Head of International Music Marketing at Telekom.

Over the past 25 years, the initiative has worked with artists ranging from Billie Eilish and Charli XCX to Grace Jones and Gorillaz, while maintaining links to local scenes. The Berlin event was a reminder of that mix — big names, experimental formats, and a focus on community.
