We’ve somehow reached the point where people are colour-matching their sofas to butter, pistachio, and tomato pasta – or even worse, lifeless beige. STEPEVI, however, would prefer if you focused your attention on the floor.
First unveiled during Milan Design Week 2026, the luxury rug specialist’s Caresse collection continues to prove that the most interesting thing in a room doesn’t always have to hang on the wall. Instead of featuring loud patterns or graphics, Caresse leans into movement, with soft, watercolour-like forms drifting across each rug as though somebody painted directly onto wool with an oversized brush.
Available in five colourways – desert, ocean, amber, blush and lavender – each design shifts gently between tones, creating rugs that feel almost atmospheric. The effect is intentionally calming, with layered textures and organic gradients adding depth without overwhelming a space.
Behind that effortless appearance sits an incredibly considered production process rooted in a three-generation rug-making heritage. The brand manufactures every single collection at its fully integrated facility in Isparta, Türkiye, maintaining complete control over material sorting, custom dyeing, and finishing, a specialised setup that has turned the house into a preferred partner for global fashion brands and luxury hospitality groups requiring bespoke textile commissions.

Caresse also formed the centrepiece of ‘A Softer World,’ an immersive installation created alongside Swedish textile artist Alfhild Külper. Instead of letting leftover yarns go to waste, Külper gathered the surplus fibres from the production of the Caresse lineup and transformed them into an interactive textile landscape. Throughout Milan Design Week, visitors were invited to contribute their own ‘soft spots’ to the evolving installation, turning the exhibition into a collective artwork that grew day by day. Afterwards, the project’s collaborative ‘Wall of Joy’ was destined for STEPEVI’s arts and culture centre in Isparta, giving the installation a life well beyond the fair itself.
This circular approach directly follows longer-term waste-reduction strategies like ‘The Revival Project,’ an initiative where STEPEVI gathers up regenerated factory leftovers and spins them back into premium, retail-ready rugs. By keeping the entire ecosystem tightly linked between the design studio and the loom floor, the brand can expand into fine textile art while keeping its manufacturing footprint incredibly low impact.
At a time when interiors seem increasingly obsessed with matching everything perfectly, Caresse feels refreshingly unconcerned with trends.
