Sézane is entering a new chapter. This autumn, the Parisian fashion house founded by Morgane Sézalory is bringing its evolving vision to 117 Rue du Bac, a historic 350-square-metre space in the city’s 7th arrondissement, for a six-month pop-up. Just steps from Le Bon Marché, the former Conran Shop has been transformed into a destination where fashion, art, books and coffee converge. Alongside Sézane’s Fall/Winter collection and newly refined wardrobe, visitors can discover a literary corner created with Galignani Bookshop and Ten Belles Café, with proceeds from book sales supporting Bibliothèques Sans Frontières through Sézane’s DEMAIN programme.
Photography takes centre stage, with 23 works by Ghanaian-British photographer James Barnor displayed throughout the space, alongside seven large-scale images across the façade. Barnor’s connection with Sézane stretches back to 2014, when he became the first artist exhibited at the brand’s inaugural Paris Appartement. For the new installation, publisher and art-centre director Anna Alix Koffi has curated an immersive photographic collage celebrating his work.
The pop-up also marks a creative evolution for Sézane. Under Sézalory’s continued direction, the brand is introducing a more intentional visual identity, with fluid silhouettes, richer materials and a supple new line of leather goods developed over 24 months. “I am no longer the person I was twenty years ago,” says Sézalory. “My perspective has sharpened, my desires have become clearer.”
The Sézane universe extends across the street at 122 Rue du Bac, where Octobre Éditions and Petit Sézane will take over the space before it transitions to Les Composantes, the brand’s interiors line. Together, the two addresses offer a physical expression of Sézane’s expanding world: fashion intertwined with photography, literature, design and the distinctly Parisian art of lingering.
