Schön! premieres | the cope’s “end of time”

Berlin-Dublin based duo The Cope explore outgrowing relationships in the latest single from their self-titled EP, out on 30 November. End of Time is a hauntingly mellow track that echoes the apathy and acceptance in the closing chapter of a relationship. The song builds to a soaring horn melody that is just as suited to the dance floor as it is your daily playlist. The candid and cinematic visuals that accompany the track are gritty, dark and foreboding as we witness the breaking of trust and the onset of revenge. Most of all, it’s hard to look away as we get drawn into the world of a toxic pair caught in euphoric hedonism when things take a turn.

Directed and written by award-winning Irish director Jamie Delaney, End of Time is the final instalment of a trilogy of videos for each track on The Cope’s new EP. Together, each visual makes up a short film that is currently touring festivals and is set to be available to stream next year. The experience is beautifully immersive and a tasteful example of how visuals can elevate an already great song to hypnotic heights.
