Schön! alive 4 | cycladic secret

The ‘soulful sister of the Cyclades’ and ‘the hand-made isle’ are some of the terms used to describe Tinos in Greece. Although only a short boat or helicopter ride from its neighbour Mykonos, Tinos feels like another world entirely. The dramatic terrain of windswept boulders, ancient olive groves, marble quarries and slopes terraced by dry stone walls is sculpted both by the elements and by hand. It’s a place of pilgrimage, of myths and legends, of spirituality and long-standing traditions, and of charming villages where it seems like time has (almost) stood still.

One place where slow living is celebrated, but where time certainly hasn’t stood still, is Odera. Opened just two years ago, it’s the first (and currently, only) luxury hotel on the island and it’s begun to get people talking about Tinos. Set above a secluded bay with a private sandy beach, every one of its 77 guestrooms and pool suites faces the sea, making it the perfect spot from which to admire the island’s sun-drenched scenery.
