After Artifacts from the Future teased us with sci-fi eyewear and MUMZ Straight Jacket 99 made its glorious comeback, Oakley’s design archive has felt more alive than ever. Now it’s the turn of Ellipse, condensing fifty years of the brand’s design language into one striking silhouette.
Taking its name (and inspiration) from the brand’s signature logo, Ellipse blends ’90s futurism with today’s material innovation. The design draws directly from the brand’s own history, especially the bold, curved lines that made Oakley a standout in the 1990s. The circular frame is a clear homage to the ellipse shape in Oakley’s logo, a symbol that’s been part of the brand’s identity for decades, but pushes the lines further: circular, sculpted, and made to fit close with PhysioMorphic™ Geometry.
Design-wise, the stems are shaped for comfort and hold, backed by Unobtainium® earsocks and nose pieces in multiple fits. The lens is Plutonite®, purposefully curved, and loaded with Prizm™ tech — a staple of Oakley’s recent collections — to boost colour and contrast so that details pop, making the world look a little sharper and brighter.
Seven colourways are in the lineup, including a limited-edition 50th anniversary model: gold-flecked and fitted with Prizm™ 24K lenses, a nod to Oakley’s long-standing obsession with both performance and presence.
The Oakley Ellipse collection will be available starting June 2025 online, in Oakley stores, and through select partners worldwide.
