For the first time in its six-decade history, Marshall is bringing its legendary sound beyond the stage and into the TV-sound space. The newly launched Heston 120 marks the brand’s debut soundbar, combining its signature audio muscle with modern-day tech — and a healthy dose of rock ‘n’ roll attitude.
Set to go on sale from 3 June, the Heston 120 is built with both TV and music in mind. “We know that soundbar owners use their soundbar to listen to music, yet most soundbars are not built for both music and TV,” says Anders Olsson, Senior Product Manager at Marshall Group. “This gave us a reason to exist and an opportunity to really shine with our legacy in music and audio.”
That dual purpose comes to life through immersive sound powered by Dolby Atmos and DTS-X, alongside 11 directional drivers designed to project audio across the room with impact. “We spent hundreds of hours fine-tuning Heston 120,” says Ed Camphor, Audio Technology and Tuning Lead. “It was important to us that we spent equal time and effort on both TV and music, not one over the other. Everything inside is tailored and engineered to have very specific roles to give you an optimal audio experience, no matter what you’re watching or listening to.”
With built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (including Auracast™ and LE Audio), HDMI eARC, and RCA inputs, the Heston 120 is as versatile as it is powerful. It also integrates streaming platforms like Spotify, Tidal, and internet radio via Airable, all accessible through the newly updated Marshall app, which now includes room calibration to help users optimise acoustics for their space.
Aesthetically, Heston 120 is unmistakably Marshall: wrapped leather trims, brushed metal panels, and knurled knobs call back to the brand’s iconic amp designs. The tactile control panel lets users manually adjust bass, treble, source and presets.
The soundbar arrives with four distinct sound modes — Music, Movie, Voice, and Night — allowing users to tailor their listening experience. Preset buttons and app controls make it easy to switch from a cinematic moment to a curated playlist in seconds. And most importantly, Heston 120 is built to last: key parts including the fret, drivers, and circuit boards are all replaceable.
The Heston 120 is only a start for Marshall’s new entry so stay tuned for further launches to come along the way.
To mark the launch, Marshall also teamed up with MTV Cribs for a special episode starring Dan and Justin Hawkins of The Darkness — plus a cameo from Nova Twins. “No one has ever seen where the Hawkins bros live — Justin and I are basically hermits,” jokes Dan Hawkins. “However, when the master manufacturers of rock and roll music devices since the 60s knocked on our door, we couldn’t exactly turn them away — as long as they took their shoes off, of course.”
The one-off special is available to stream now. Heston 120 is available for pre-order now. Find out more at Marshall.com.
