marine serre ss26 | all day and night

Marine Serre has long been designed beyond boundaries. Her work blurs the lines between fashion and utility, between innovation and tradition, creating a language entirely her own. With her spring/summer collection titled ‘THE SOURCE’, Serre continues to defy expectations, designing a collection that is as versatile as it is visionary – a collection designed for every moment of the day, from early morning to late-night hours. This fluidity in design isn’t easily achieved, yet Serre makes it look easy.

‘THE SOURCE’ showcases her signature blend of technical precision and conceptual depth. Crisp tailoring anchors the collection, offering structure and elegance, while transformative textiles push the boundaries of materiality – sequins mimic the sheen of latex, while cotton resembles the texture of leather. Subtle yet strong references to workwear ground the collection in reality and sportswear nods to her childhood – all of which remind us that Serre’s vision of fashion is one that’s meant to be lived in.

Within the collection, distinct archetypes begin to emerge – characters that embody Marine Serre’s world. The cowboys wear floral leather jackets and mini dresses, and dark wash Canadian tuxedos with Serre’s iconic crescent moon on silver chain necklaces and leather belts. Then come the scouts, clad in long-sleeved uniform-style shirts, trench coats, and dresses adorned with patches, berets, and neckerchiefs that nod to both nostalgia and utility. The athletes wear two-tone golf-esque dresses, trainers, and bomber jackets. And, the corporate wardrobe is turned on its head: tailored tweed suits, single-breasted blazers, and oversized crocodile-embossed bags suggest power dressing with an edge.

Serre’s crescent moon print finds itself on sequined floor-length dresses and long-sleeve tops, upcycled denim, airbrushed leather sets, and cut out of the chest of short-sleeved mini and maxi dresses. All the while, a vibrant yellow trompe-l’oeil python is dotted subtly with pointed-toe heels and mini bags before appearing on cotton suits. Not to mention, the abstract floral prints that appear in the last few looks, manifesting as a gathered maxi skirt, flowy dress, fitted button-up shirt, and mega mini skirt.

At first glance, the styles within the collection might appear worlds apart, but under Serre’s vision, they come together effortlessly. Her gift lies in crafting garments that bridge the gap between fashion as a concept and clothing as a lived experience. With each collection she creates, that is even more evident. In a world increasingly driven by fast-paced innovation, Serre is choosing to slow down, moving “at the speed of care.”
