Louis Vuitton is bringing one of its most storied traditions back to life. Fourteen years after its last Classic Run, the French house has announced the return of the ‘Louis Vuitton Dolomites Classic Run’, a four-day journey through northern Italy celebrating vintage automobiles, craftsmanship and the Maison’s enduring fascination with the ‘Art of Travel.’ Running from 1 to 4 September 2026, the event revives a programme first launched in 1993, taking collectors and some of the world’s most extraordinary historic cars from Venice to Monza via the dramatic landscapes of the Dolomites.
Long before fashion houses became regular fixtures in motorsport, Louis Vuitton had already built a relationship with the automobile. Georges Vuitton designed the Maison’s first dedicated car trunk in 1897, replacing bulky rounded luggage with his now-iconic flat-top construction. Just a few years later came the Sac Chauffeur, created to slot neatly into the spare wheel compartment of early automobiles, illustrating how the House has been adapting luggage to new ways of travelling for well over a century.

That heritage forms the backbone of the Dolomites Classic Run. Beginning in Venice, the route covers approximately 600 kilometres across UNESCO-listed mountain roads before concluding at the legendary Autodromo Nazionale Monza, where participating vehicles will parade during the opening of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix weekend. Before crossing the finish line, the classic cars will also be displayed publicly in the forecourt of Villa Reale di Monza, bringing together automotive history and Italian cultural heritage in one of the country’s most iconic settings.
Throughout the route, the House partners with institutions including Villa Pisani, Castello Sforzesco, Reggia di Monza and the MUVE Musei Civici di Venezia, continuing restoration and conservation initiatives that aim to preserve these historic landmarks.

Naturally, no Louis Vuitton celebration would be complete without a trunk. The winning crew will receive a bespoke trophy designed by Dutch artist and designer Sabine Marcelis, produced in collaboration with renowned Venetian glassmaker Venini and transported inside a custom Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk – because as the Maison reminds us, victory always travels in style.
The Dolomites Classic Run reconnects Louis Vuitton with one of the ideas that has defined it since 1854: that the journey itself can be every bit as beautiful as the destination.
