Loro Piana is celebrating its profound and enduring relationship with New York City, the metropolitan muse that inspired its transformation from a revered fabric mill into a global luxury house, with an exceptional, weeks-long takeover of Bergdorf Goodman. Running from the 17th of October to the 3rd of November 2025, the event marks the occasion with an intricate window display, a captivating light animation across the store’s façade and the launch of exclusive, highly coveted products.
The installation, conceived as a playful, art deco-infused interpretation of the Maison’s relentless pursuit of uniqueness, transforms Bergdorf’s Fifth Avenue frontage into a series of miniature theatrical scenes. The windows of both the men’s and women’s stores are populated by meticulous wooden puppets representing Loro Piana artisans, bathed in a rich palette of deep browns, dark greens and luminous gold.
These delicate vignettes illustrate the brand’s story from the source to the final product: one scene shows miniature Loro Piana trucks transporting bales of raw cashmere from distant lands towards Italy, while another features tiny goats floating gracefully to celebrate the weightless beauty of Baby Cashmere. Notably, the displays pay homage to the Maison’s industrial heritage by featuring the thistle flower (fiore di cardo), the iconic emblem historically used at the Quarona factory to brush its precious fabrics, alongside sketches by pioneering Italian artist Marcello Dudovich, used to adorn the brand’s first art deco-era stores.
Adding dramatic flair, the women’s store façade is lit up by a dynamic, intricate animation that tells the Loro Piana story in captivating light. The display unfolds as a visual journey, tracing a thread from the Mongolian landscape where the finest cashmere is sourced, through a field of thistle flowers, past the contours of the Quarona factory and across the globe until it arrives in New York, where Loro Piana trucks laden with bales of fibre traverse the façade, culminating in the city’s skyline transforming into the very contours of Bergdorf Goodman itself.
The Big Apple was truly the genesis of Loro Piana’s transformation from a world-class fabric maker into the polished luxury house we know today. The brand’s relationship with the metropolis began officially in September 1989 with the opening of its very first office there. This presence quickly blossomed, leading to the House presenting its debut concept store in 1994 between Park and Madison Avenues.
Exclusively for this luxurious partnership, a tight edit of Loro Piana Special Products is available only at Bergdorf Goodman, including a softly structured wool overshirt in warm rust for him and a tone-on-tone grey cashmere ensemble for her, accessorised with a playful animal-print cloche hat. These items are rendered in unique fabrics and colourways that embody the House’s hyper-luxury.
But that’s not all: clients can enjoy a luxurious bespoke experience in the women’s accessories shop, where expert Loro Piana artisans offer a personalisation service for the timeless Grande Unita scarf and the Unito blanket, which can be custom-embroidered with initials.
The scarf itself is an absolute cornerstone of the brand’s modern history, as it was Loro Piana’s very first finished item launched in the early 1980s, showcased at the House’s debut New York concept store in 1994. Its signature ‘frisson’ finish, which lends an exclusive sheen to the butter-soft fabric, ensures this accessory remains the height of quiet luxury. The bespoke service features a wide palette of signature muted and vibrant colours, including earthy tones, pastels and a striking pop of red for the plaid option.
