La Saint-Chapelle (Holy Chapel) on the île-de-la-cité, is one of the few remaining buildings of the Capetian dynasty in the heart of Paris. Built in the 13th Century by Louis IX, it is one of France’s finest examples of Gothic architecture and is famed for its glorious stained glass windows.

It is these Gothic gables and gleaming glass that inspired Jean Claude Jitrois when creating the SS 13 collection for his eponymous luxury leather brand. Vivid shades of indigo, ultraviolet and coral are coupled with more sombre tones of black and stone. Structured architectural lines are combined with 1950s couture shapes, such as pencil skirts and peplums. These silhouettes are countered with the lightness and delicacy of broderie anglaise, crochet and crystal embellishments, and Jitrois’ signature perforations and fringing, to bring a sense of movement to leather and exotic skins.
