Fendi’s most famous hummingbird doesn’t need heavy plumage to fly. The Italian brand’s latest take on its signature slingback pares the silhouette back for Autumn/Winter 2026–27, swapping the original’s structured attitude for something slimmer, sharper and decidedly more seductive.
First introduced for Spring/Summer 2018, the Colibrì quickly became one of Fendi’s most recognisable signatures, defined by its pointed silhouette and distinctive elastic straps. For her debut collection at the House, Maria Grazia Chiuri revisits the design with the Very Colibrì, refining its proportions without losing the balance between femininity and movement that made the original so distinctive.
The transformation is captured by photographer Michal Pudelka for ‘The Art of Balance’, a campaign that takes an appropriately surreal approach to movement. Set against the monumental ruins of Rome’s Stadio delle Terme di Caracalla, models appear caught between motion and stillness, turning the ancient setting into a theatrical backdrop for the Very Colibrì’s modern proportions. The imagery plays with freedom, confidence and fluidity – qualities that make the shoe feel like something designed to move in.

While the updated shoe preserves its iconic elastic ankle webbing, it introduces heightened, razor-sharp architectural proportions. A new, hyper-slender stiletto heel lends a weightless feel to the architecture, working in tandem with a dramatically deepened V-shaped vamp designed to elongate the lower leg.
Material versatility defines this new era, pushing the style across a premium range of textures. The iterations transition smoothly from classic, high-shine black patent leather and soft Rose Nude calf leather to an ultra-luxurious, deep burgundy hagfish leather – the latter using intricate, handcrafted chevron inlay work to elevate the clean profile. Maintaining the silhouette’s original, boundary-pushing contrast, the heels are finished with technical, hiking-shoe-inspired padded cushions and mini sideways pull tabs, injecting an unexpected, subverted streetwear element into high-end Italian craftsmanship.
