Over the last August weekend, Olivia Rodrigo brought her inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival to life in Irvine, California, using the massive, 45,000-strong event to debut a fresh blueprint for concert keepsakes. For the occasion, the pop star partnered with Etsy for a Daisy Chain Fields collection and to build the ‘Etsy Creative Village’ – an interactive on-site studio that paired independent craftsmanship directly with fan culture. Schön! attended the festival to discover how the massive crowd was interacting with the space, finding a completely carefree atmosphere of flower crowns, glitter and human connection.
The three-day event rolled out as a historic celebration of women in music, featuring an all-female lineup that raised millions for girls’ and women’s advocacy groups. While your artist’s favourite artist, Chappell Roan, delivered her signature theatrical energy to roaring crowds and breakout rap star Doechii commanded the stage with intense energy, the Creative Village provided a slower-paced indie space for fans to disconnect from the noise. Between highly anticipated performances from indie legend Mitski and rock veterans Bikini Kill and Garbage, festival-goers packed into the pastel-hued village tents to try their hand at artisan customisation.

The village programming allowed attendees to actively build their own physical archives of the weekend. At the centre of the space, a massive pink Bead Fountain invited fans to construct one-of-a-kind safety-pin keepsakes from thousands of custom charms. Nearby, an on-site Boutique hosted live chain-stitch embroidery stations where fans could personalise floral bandanas and pieces from their own closets with patches designed by ten women-owned Etsy shops. For those wanting a more permanent memory, a dedicated Parlour provided temporary body art and fairy-hair applications, while a collaborative Workshop allowed fans to bind concert tickets and ephemera into handmade junk-journal pages.

Rodrigo herself even made a surprise appearance at the village ahead of her Friday soundcheck to meet the independent makers who had spent months collaborating with her digitally across a selection of concert souvenirs. For those who missed the weekend’s festivities, the official collection remains available to discover online.
