Far from his Wichita roots, Jake Webber has carved out a singular space at the intersection of punk, alt-rock, and internet-born creativity. Known for his bold, unfiltered style, Jake writes, produces, and directs much of his own music, blending gritty DIY aesthetics with catchy, genre-blurring hooks that echo his punk inspirations. Whether it’s a gritty guitar riff, a high-energy performance, or a lo-fi experimental jam, Jake Webber proves that bedroom-produced music can hit just as hard — and resonate just as deeply — as anything on a major label.

Jake Webber chats with Schön! and curated a bespoke playlist to celebrate the release of his new EP, Love Me While You Can.

Hey, what are you up to right now?

Doing my morning ritual of grabbing an energy drink and listening to Razorblade Romance.

If someone asked you what your origin story was, how would you describe it?

I wanted more out of life than what my small Kansas hometown could give me. So, I quit the sandwich shop I worked at and moved to Los Angeles with only one month of rent saved.

Describe your style in three words.

DIY, bold, rocker.

What’s the most precious thing in your wardrobe?

My dice necklace. I don’t like to change my jewelry because I want to look the same when people think of me.

Which living person do you most admire?

My sister. She’s true to herself, she sees the beauty in the little things, and she’s a breath of fresh air on the internet.

What was the last book you read?

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.

If you could play any venue, which one would it be?

I wish I could do a set at Chili’s. Everyone who attends gets a free Triple Dipper.

Where are you happiest?

Somewhere I’ve never been. Doing something new is what keeps life interesting. But a less cool answer would be on my couch with a slice of pizza.

Ideal three-course meal?

I love when a restaurant has appetizer plates — sliders, wings, mozzarella sticks, etc. I’m all about appetizers.

My main meal would be Wingstop’s 3-piece hot honey tenders with fries seasoned the same way and dipped in ranch.

For dessert, I just had my dream one in Japan — Taco Bell churro cinna twists topped with ice cream in a cup.

Who would play you in the story of your life?

Wow, that’s a tough one because I can’t even imagine being in a place where a movie about my life exists. Maybe my sister in a wig — we look similar enough.

What’s one song you wish you could listen to for the first time again?

“Chainsaw Party” by Sematary.

An underrated song or artist you love?

The Exploding Hearts.

The track that describes your coming-of-age story?

“Robot” (2015 version) by Never Shout Never.

An album you’d put in a time capsule?

GI by The Germs.

A lyric you love and the song it’s from?

“I came into this world like a puzzled panther, waiting to be caged, but something stood in the way.” — The Germs

A track that reminds you of a happy moment?

“New Perspective” by Panic! at the Disco.

A song you discovered recently that you love?

“Here in Your Bedroom” by Goldfinger.

Best record to get you out of a funk?

My War by Black Flag.

What’s the last song you searched for on Spotify?

“Mom Rock Bangers.”

A song you wish you wrote?

“Shattered” by The Exploding Hearts.
