curated | atticus kane

Atticus Kane was born in Budapest with a dream of living in New York City. Now based in Brooklyn, he makes music that sits somewhere between indie rock, alternative pop, and singer-songwriter traditions, using the personal to reckon with bigger questions of immigration, identity, belonging, and what it means to love an imperfect place. His latest album, ‘News From Delphi’, finds that tension in songs like “Love Me Not”, which grew out of a string of anti-immigrant political robocalls and became a meditation on the contradictions of American identity. For Kane, loving a place and being critical of it are not mutually exclusive; they are part of the same impulse.

For Schön!’s curated series, he maps out the songs, artists, people, places and rituals that have shaped his creative instincts, emotional world, and sonic identity.
