Schön! 47 | rupi kaur wearing Pandora

Posted by & filed under beauty, culture, fashion.

Rupi Kaur took over the poetry world at just 21 years old when she self-published her first collection, Milk and Honey. It’s been ten years since its release and, when chatting with the glistening Kaur who wears Pandora and Rue Sophie for her Schön! 47 digital cover story, it’s clear that much has changed for the poet. “It feels so much bigger than me, because it’s meant so much to so many people,” Kaur says smiling. “It’s a book that’s changed my life.” The poetry book — a compilation of poems and unassuming line drawings — would redefine the world of poetry. So much so that Milk and Honey‘s impact on culture is still felt today and now, a decade later, Kaur has released an anniversary edition and is conducting a world book signing tour. “When I wrote it, I was trying to overcome so many challenges,” Kaur recalls. “I know that’s why my readers connect with it; they were going through those same challenges.” Working on the updated edition required Kaur to re-read her book cover to cover. “Reading it back from my 31-year-old perspective…” She pauses, searching for the words and shaking her head. “I’m in awe, because I really… Read more »

Schön! 47 | kid bookie feat. Marshall Headphones

Posted by & filed under culture, fashion, video.

“It’s fun because music is a place to practice your rebellion,” Kid Bookie explains. The MOBO-nominated artist, who wears Marshall Monitor III A.N.C. for his Schön! 47 digital cover story, has had a whirlwind time lately. His latest album,  Songs For The Living // Songs For The Dead, zeroes in on the feelings of being an outsider, something that he has been reckoning with since he was young. Music, he says, is a place where he can be a shapeshifter — someone who is redefining the concept of a rock star with his genre-defying capabilities. “There are a lot of hurdles and barriers you’ve got to go through just by choosing to make rock music because I don’t look like a traditional rock artist,” he says. Before he became known as Kid Bookie, Tyrone Hill always felt aligned with the anti-mainstream. Growing up in inner-city London, his interests often set him apart from his peers. “I was that kid wearing mismatched Converse, a random tie with a white shirt, just being as punk as I could be,” he recalls. “In school, you get bullied for that. The uniqueness of your character, the beauty of your individuality, gets stripped away to fit in with the crowd.”… Read more »

Schön! 47 | josh heuston in LOEWE

Posted by & filed under fashion.

When chatting with Josh Heuston, one thing is for certain: he is a major science fiction fan. The actor chats with us from his London flat for his Schön! 47 cover story, where he’s dressed in knitwear by LOEWE, and is clearly relaxed and ready to discuss everything about the making of Dune: Prophecy. It’s a project that took up three years of his life and now he’s embracing the surreal feeling of returning back to some semblance of normality. “Going back to normal after filming is strange. You’re like, ‘Okay, where’s my sword and cape?’” he laughs, “But a project like this kind of ticks all the boxes.” The show is set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, the main character from the original Dune films. This show puts the women front and centre, focusing on two sisters, played by Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, who originate the clandestine Bene Gesserit matriarchal order as they weave their webs among the great houses. Joshua Heuston stars as Constantine Corrino, whose quest for his father’s approval starkly contrasts Paul Atreides’ relationship with his own father. Naturally, Heuston is a science fiction fan. Opening up to Schön!, he says, “We’re not… Read more »

Schön! 47 | kid bookie feat. Marshall Headphones

Kid Bookie is redefining the concept of a rock star with his genre-defying capabilities. The MOBO-nominated artist, who wears Marshall Monitor III A.N.C. for his Schön! 47  digital cover story, is speaking about his new album, Songs For The Living // Songs For The Dead, which exemplifies the power of being an outsider. In a content-saturated world where innovation seems scarce and originality is often replaced by recycled ideas, finding an artist who genuinely brings something fresh to their genre is rare. Yet, by simply being his authentic self, Kid Bookie naturally pushes the boundaries. “There are a lot of hurdles and barriers you’ve got to go through just by choosing to make rock music because I don’t look like a traditional rock artist,” he says, touching on the fact that he has a knack for experimentation by merging metal and rock with rap elements. “It’s fun because music is a place to practice your rebellion.” Before he became known as Kid Bookie, Tyrone Hill always felt aligned with the anti-mainstream. Growing up in inner-city London, his interests often set him apart from his peers. “I was that kid wearing mismatched Converse, a random tie with a white shirt, just… Read more »

Schön! 47 | jan melka in CHANEL

Posted by & filed under beauty, culture, fashion, video.

No one is quite as captivating as Jan Melka. The artist has compelled audiences with both her abstract figurative artworks and her unique style, as depicted in her Schön! 47 print cover story and documentary film where she wears all Chanel. The French-American artist has had a landmark year — ushering in three shows, a collaboration in Paris, and further projects on the horizon. It’s clear from her exhibitions in New York and Tokyo to London and Paris that her work resonates deeply with themes of isolation, imperfection, and nostalgia. Her intuitive compositions are marked by wild, unpredictable lines that seem to bounce off gallery walls or the exteriors of her self-made houses. “There are no rules to art,” says Melka from her Paris apartment. “I believe that we should play with that freedom.” Inspired by the surrealists she admires, Melka’s oeuvre centers on abstracting the world around her, particularly the human figure. “People don’t have fixed bodies or personas,” she explains, “so I deepen gestures and portray human beings in movement.” This focus on movement guides her paintbrush, making her work compelling. Figurative ligaments cascade in broad black strokes, forming characters that dance ambiguously across the canvas. They overlap… Read more »

championing the north | beyond the music

Posted by & filed under culture.

Manchester has long been synonymous with music, boasting a rich legacy of artists and venues contributing to its unique cultural fabric. The city teems with musicians, grassroots venues flourish, and new spots pop up regularly. There’s a thirst for every genre in every pocket of the city and Beyond The Music wants to shine a light on the collectives thriving in the North.  Beyond The Music, one of the nation’s premier music conferences and festivals, wrapped up its second consecutive year.  Founded by Oli Wilson—son of legendary Factory Records impresario Tony Wilson—with Sarah Pearson and Rose Marley, the event aims to zero in on critical issues affecting the music industry while simultaneously platforming local emerging talent through 100s of gigs happening throughout the city at independent venues.  Everyone from government officials to local uni students came together at Aviva Studios to discuss everything from misogyny in music, musician’s mental health, gaming, AI and beyond. What set the stage for the festival was a moving keynote conversation between Manchester rapper Aitch and Apple Music host Dotty where Aitch discussed the issue with the UK music scene’s fixation on London.  “No one is having label meetings here,” he says when discussing the… Read more »

Schön! 47 | yasmin finney in Margaret Howell + Cartier

Art has different meanings for everyone. Some find escapism through art, while others see it as a reflection of society. When British actor Yasmin Finney sits down to chat with us for her Schön! 47 digital cover story, wearing pieces by Margaret Howell and Cartier, it’s clear acting — and, in turn, art — is a dream realised. “When I was in primary school, we went around the class saying what we wanted to be when we grew up,” she shares. “Others said lawyer, doctor, nurse, teacher, and I said, ‘Oh, an actress.’ At the time, I [hadn’t transitioned], and everyone just laughed. Even if people doubt you, it’s always good to stay true to what you want, even if your surroundings don’t necessarily support that idea.” Despite the pushback, the Manchester actor found herself in one of the biggest Netflix adaptations to date: Heartstopper. “Through the show, you see a huge maturity each season,” she says. “Elle [her character] taught me a lot about confidence, what true friendship should be, what true love should be. Even though it’s a world of escapism, it’s still nice to be part of a world that gives millions of people hope. Doing that… Read more »

“It’s better to burn brightly today, than to slowly shrivel away.”  Reflecting on gender stereotypes, ‘Florescence’ explores the biology and cultural impact of flowers throughout history, with outrageous metaphors filled with beauty, irony and sexual innuendos. “Certain beliefs are so embedded in our thinking that we rarely stop to ask why they exist as they do, and we wanted to bring those questions to the forefront of the conversation,” explains creative duo D I • A L who directed and shot the film. “Most importantly, we aimed to make the film engaging and enjoyable rather than preachy, and while we’re aware of its ever-changing tone, we believe it perfectly suits the vibrancy and diversity that flowers offer to us.” The emotional core of the film is the eclectic cast — Angel, Amelie Robertson, Camron J Wellington, Danya Nikiforov, Erfan Tavasoli, Janni Lima, John Tauras, Klym, Larissa Almeida, Lui Opoku-Adjei, Richmond Yeboah, Safe, Sema Tawi, and Uma Vethakkan who contributed not only their performances but also their views and perspectives, painting a clear picture of the zeitgeist surrounding the gender discourse. For her first time leading an entire series, Nadia Parkes blows us all away. Kidnapped tells the true story of Chloe Ayling, a British glamour model who was kidnapped in Milan, Italy when she went out on a modelling gig in 2017. The series follows Ayling (played by Parkes) as she navigates through the aftermath of the kidnapping – the ridicule she faced from the British public, and how she coped to survive. What the six-episode series does so well is highlight that not every situation is black or white. The relationship Ayling forms with her kidnapper ‘M.D’ (played by Julian Swiezewski) is complicated and nuanced, causing us the audience to question: how far would you go to live another day?  Parkes performance leaves us empathetic, infuriated, and downright angry at the way Ayling was dissected by the Italian police and upon her return to the U.K. Ridiculed, mocked, and questioned, she takes us through a whole plethora of emotions. From joy and fear to betrayal, and with glimmers of happiness in between the darkness, Parkes bears it all for us, putting herself through the wringer to do the story justice and give it the spotlight it deserves. So, for once, it was something with a real journey as a reader. I felt for the first time that my whole room was really travelling.” As a true Renaissance man of French cinema, he’s tackled every role with finesse — so much so that he became the youngest actor to win a César for best actor for his portrayal of Yves Saint Laurent. Schön! 47 | jan melka wearing CHANEL #allaboutart | out now

Posted by & filed under fashion.

Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Change often begins in art. – Ursula K. Le Guinn Schön! 47 is a celebration of art, one of — if not the — most beautiful aspects of our lives. We can find connection and community through art, finding a capacity to connect to others through creativity. It’s what allows us to find common humanity, a unifying force to reinvent the world we live in. Art, whether it be visual, sculptural, conceptual, sound, written or performance, is where we come together. It’s why Schön! 47, aptly titled All About Art, honours art in its many ever-changing forms. Looking to the young generation who is shaping art today, we begin our journey with Parisian-based visual artist Jan Melka who believes “There are no rules to art.” In a special CHANEL editorial by Jorre Janssens, Melka shares how art gives all of us the tools to “express feelings and ideas in an indirect way; with messages, metaphors and seemingly unfinished compositions.” Art is also how we move, so we discuss how Carl Giacomello Scharnberg, dancer extraordinaire, brings movement and energy to every step he makes. Moving swiftly into another form of… Read more »

As avid supporters of the DIT (aka do-it-together) ethos, members Bjarni, Dagur, Hugi, and Þóra formed in a burst of enthusiasm on the dance floor of a now-closed Reykjavík bar during a late summer night. In Paris 2024, he was the anchor for the men’s 4x100m relay team which included Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, and Brendon Rodney, and helped bring their team to victory. Now, as he chats with Schön! dressed in Oakley, it’s clear that it’s been an incredible journey for someone who began running track at 17. What was it like to celebrate the win together? interview | jenny walser

Posted by & filed under culture.

At first glance, Tori Spring looks like a one-dimensional character. Stereotypically moody, the default emo teen, with razor-sharp wit, existing as the occasional comic relief. But for those of us who have read Alice Oseman’s Solitaire — and thanks to Jenny Walser’s nuanced performance in Heartstopper — the character is so much more. She breathed life into Tori, growing her beyond the script and onto our screens. She quickly became a fan favorite when Heartstopper premiered back in 2022, and while we see that there’s more than meets the eye, teased with tidbits, and snippets of information for two seasons, in this third season, we’re treated to more dimension. Walser hasn’t shied away from these newly introduced facets of Tori’s character – she’s embraced them, using her screen time to shine brightly. And she really does. Heartstopper’s core may be Charlie and Nick, but what the show has always done well is highlight the relationships around them. Tori may be a supporting character, but her relationship with Charlie has comforted many, allowing Walser to shine in the spotlight. However, being in the spotlight is something Walser is still getting used to, she explains to us. The popularity of the show… Read more »

interview | austin call

Posted by & filed under art..

Los Angeles-based Austin Call, the artist behind the alias @duhrivative, is making a powerful mark on the contemporary art scene with his striking and unconventional style. Known for “deconstructing reality,” Call’s work blends his personal experiences with pop culture portraiture in a way that disrupts traditional artistic norms. As a Midwestern transplant in LA, he draws inspiration from the city’s eclectic energy while also weaving elements of mental health, recovery, and technological overload into his visually disorienting yet deeply compelling pieces. His work pushes viewers to engage with a reality that feels fragmented, yet relatable—a reflection of the chaos and beauty of modern life.  Having emerged from a challenging period in his life, Austin transformed his struggles into fuel for his creative journey. His reimagined portraits of cultural icons reflect his belief that nothing is truly original—everything is, in essence, derivative. Hence the name @duhrivative. Through this lens, Call reshapes reality, offering fresh, provocative takes on familiar figures and themes. In this interview with Schön!, Austin delves into the inspirations behind his art, his unique creative process, and his evolving vision for the future, offering insight into a mind redefining what it means to be an artist in today’s digital… Read more »

interview | aj odudu

Posted by & filed under culture.

For AJ Odudu, everyone deserves to be a dreamer. As a TV presenter who has faced more than her fair share of rejection at the start of her career, it’s this positive mentality, along with sheer hard graft and a supportive network, that has transformed Odudu’s dream into reality. It’s why the opportunity to host M&S Dress the Nation – which sees 10 amateur designers, irrespective of background or qualifications, compete to win a highly-coveted M&S design role – resonated with Odudu’s own journey of breaking into the creative industry. From stacking shelves at her local M&S to hosting the fashion brand’s eponymous show and attending London Fashion Week, Odudu has forged a strong sense of self. And with this new-found confidence, she’s on a mission to open doors for as many creatives as she possibly can. Growing up in Blackburn, where Saturday night TV was precious family time, Odudu knew she wanted to re-create that sense of escapism she had felt for other families. She muses, “I want someone to feel like they’re part of the conversation… And that’s what’s so appealing to me [about presenting] – injecting the sense of joy that I felt, and still feel when… Read more »

timeless craftsmanship | a conversation with Montblanc’s creative director, Marco Tomasetta

Posted by & filed under fashion.

In the world of luxury design, few names resonate as deeply as Montblanc. Known for its timeless craftsmanship, Montblanc has defined elegance and sophistication across multiple generations, from its iconic Meisterstück fountain pen to its leather goods and accessories. Leading this creative vision is Marco Ettore Tomasetta, the brand’s dynamic Creative Director. With a deep appreciation for art, design, and history, Marco has helped shape the Montblanc aesthetic, ensuring its legacy endures while pushing the boundaries of innovation. As the Meisterstück celebrates its centennial anniversary, Marco reflects with Schön! to discuss the balance between tradition and modernity, global design influences, and the future of Montblanc’s creative journey. The Meisterstück fountain pen is often regarded as a status symbol and a timeless accessory, celebrating its 100th birthday this year. How do you balance preserving its traditional design elements with incorporating modern features to appeal to contemporary users? When I joined Montblanc, it was instantly obvious that the Meisterstück is a powerful source of inspiration, and my mission has been to explore all this writing instrument has to offer creatively. When working with an icon like the Meisterstück, you don’t want to tamper with it or change it significantly because its design… Read more »

Music in France reflects the organisation of French territories. It’s divided: between France’s “Metropolitaine” and its overseas territories, mostly the remnants of France’s colonial past. Music, as such, is split between that which is written and produced in France in Europe, and that which comes from “outre mer” – from other seas – as these territories are referred to. Spanning the globe from Guadeloupe to the Reunion, artists embody a new generation of hybridisation. These artists mix rhythms, traditions, and languages – with Creole mixed with French – to create their own signature identity. One of these artists is Meryl, who is nothing short of a phenomenon in France – and, of course, in Martinique, her birthplace and artistic home.  “Music was always an evident, obligatory option for me, growing up,” she tells Schön! “I was kind of born into it. I grew up listening to what was on the radio, but it was Specta, my first mentor in music, really, who started to connect me to more specific music, like the world of rap and of dancehall in general. He was already well known as a singer in the underground scene in Martinique.” After releasing her own sounds, and… Read more »

After a celebrated first season, Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power is back. The acclaimed series, based on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, gained not only the approval of Tolkien enthusiasts but also attracted new fans longing for a well-written, thrilling fantasy. At the center is Ismael Cruz Córdova, an actor with warmth and depth to him, qualities that the producers and team were looking for when searching for their new Silvan Elf, Arondir. However, fans had to wait until the third episode for Arondir’s entrance in the second season – something that felt deliberate. It did not disappoint — feeling as a grand homage to Orlando Bloom’s Legolas. “Learning about my entrance…I was very excited,” Córdova says, smiling. “I wanted to make sure it would be an undeniable entrance, with a sense of ‘he has arrived’ and have it felt [to the audience] that’s our guy, but with the wonder that there is something a little bit off with him from what we are used to seeing.” Getting into the role of Arondir he describes as a ‘muscle memory’ now. “I go through a process that is like around 4 hours.” Córdova says. “From getting to set, getting… Read more »

This year, WHITE Milano, Italy’s leading clothing and lifestyle show, embraces the theme “Sign of the Times,” exploring how fashion not only adapts to but also mirrors the shifting tides of culture, technology, and society. More than just a showcase of cutting-edge collections, WHITE Milano 2024 delves into the heart of what defines our era—where sustainability, digital innovation, and social consciousness are not just trends, but reflections of modern society. By positioning fashion as a lens through which we interpret the present moment, WHITE Milano offers attendees an opportunity to explore how clothing speaks to the challenges and triumphs of the times we live in. This season marks another great edition for showcasing creativity across the globe, with the ‘Secret Rooms’ forming the center of the fair and highlighting a variety of talents, each with a different message and aesthetic. YID’PHROGMA offers participants the chance to delve into the core of Tibetan traditional garments with a significant blend of raw natural materials intertwined with classic embroidery that distinguishes each piece. It reflects the spiritual essence of the Tibetan highlands, infused with the… Read more »

His influence extends beyond clothing to impact contemporary fashion’s understanding and appreciation of avant-garde design. With that, Schön! is excited to view his upcoming collection today. Watch the upcoming collection for SS25 at 6pm UK time.

interview | elín hall

Posted by & filed under culture.

For those who have never visited Iceland, the country can be an enigma of sorts. Much has likely been left to your imagination — volcanos, lagoons, chilly temperatures — but exploring the country and meeting those who shape Iceland’s culture is something that must be experienced firsthand. What better way to explore than to visit the country’s capital city, Reykjavík, during Iceland Airwaves, happening Nov 7th to 9th. The annual music festival has grown from its humble beginnings — a small event showcasing local talent in 1999 — to the internationally known festival that artists and music attendees alike adore. This year, Iceland Airwaves celebrates the festival’s 25th anniversary — a feat that should be celebrated both for its longevity and its impact on the Icelandic music scene in the country and around the world.  One of the artists performing is Iceland’s very own Élín Hall. The multifaceted musician and actress has deftly crafted a filmography and discography that are as unique and distinct as she is. Her latest album, “heyrist í mér?“, was produced by Hall herself along with Reynir Snær Magnússon and Árni Árnason, and explores her embracing her power and using her voice — all while asking the question:… Read more »

astral 2.0 | a conversation with aveda’s antoinette beenders

Posted by & filed under beauty.

Is there anyone who knows hair better than Antoinette Beenders? As Aveda’s Global Senior Vice President of Professional Artistry, she’s been heralded as a force in the hair industry — so much so that she’s even crafted many hair collections, her newest aptly named Astral. A culmination of Beenders’ years of work in the hair world, Astral ushers in a new space for hair artistry as Beenders aims to create alternate dimensions by leaning further and further into three-dimensional hair. And with that, the next collection of Astral — Astral 2.0 — has recently been released (and nominated for the British Hairdressing Awards).  The 2.0 collection is a collaboration with artist Ed Maximus which sees him and Beenders work together to mix real models and hair and juxtapose them with AI imagery to mimic a similar feeling to that of a dreamy, unseen world. It’s a technique that builds on her “ridge” technique, which she originally crafted for Iris van Herpen’s Paris couture show last summer, she’s used the same inspiration for New York Fashion Week at the Bad Binch TongTong presentation. Schön! chats with Aveda’s Antoinette Beenders to discuss creating Astral, the new 2.0 collection, where she sees the hair industry evolving in the future, and more…. Read more »

interview | martin garrix

Posted by & filed under culture.

Martin Garrix, the once DJ wunderkind, is a staple in the rave scene. Between juggling world tours, club nights, and his label STMPD RCRDS, the Dutch DJ now includes Brand Ambassador in his resume of titles. Garrix most recently worked with Replay Jeans to create a line of special editions Replay X Garrix merch, including 9 custom-designed shirts available now on the Replay website!  Schön! met up with Garrix in Berlin for a quick chat on the art of standing out as a DJ, his thoughts on the techno capital of the world and, of course, what it means to be Replay’s first musician brand ambassador. People know Berlin as the epicentre of techno music, and it’s quite a controversial statement at this time. What’s your take on this? Does playing in Berlin feel different than playing in other cities?  I love Berlin. I love the energy here. I love the music scene. Of course, there’s a huge techno scene. Myself, I’m not playing techno, but, I love all kinds of genres. I love all kinds of house muaiix and more.  Do you adjust your sound to the city you’re playing in? Certain cities prefer a certain sound.  Very much… Read more »

interview | maris jones

Posted by & filed under culture.

Maris Jones has pinpointing an aesthetic down to a science. No, seriously. She explains as much in her new book, “Unlock Your Aesthetic.” For the uninitiated, Maris Jones is an artist, all-around creative, (and now) author. Rising to fame on Vine way back in 2015, her nostalgic and wistful installations have garnered a lot of praise over the last decade, working with the likes of Vogue, Nylon, and musician Chappell Roan to name a few. Although finding an audience online wasn’t the goal, it was a reconfirmation of what she already knew: creating is the end all be all for her. But, as luck (and talent) would have it, she found her niche, her audience, her work resonating and finding its voice, cutting through the internet noise. Jones’s work is so unique and unapologetic, that it makes you yearn to create something of your own, to take a risk, to think outside the box and see what sticks. As adults, it can be so hard to remember to make art and embrace the finer things in life, but Jones makes a point of emphasizing how important making art is, how good it can be, and the benefits of having it… Read more »

seamless transition | h&m studio A/W24 collection

Posted by & filed under fashion.

The shift from the sticky hot summer heat to the cosy and rich autumnal weather is a yearly transformative change people relish. As the leaves change from green to red, yellow, and orange hues, so does our style — shedding away our summer wardrobe and finding comfort in texture, layers, and pieces that provide warmth and comfort, almost completely reinventing ourselves in the process. It’s that yearly ethos where H&M found inspiration for their new H&M Studio A/W24 collection, a curated assortment of classics to mix and match. What began as an initial dream of a touring jazz musician — someone who requires a seamless day-to-night transition for their wardrobe — turned into the main character of H&M Studio A/W 24 collection. As she slinks away from the spotlight to backstage, reinventing herself time and time again as she performs for a new audience in a new city every evening, her clothes reflect that journey. She could wear textured knitwear and sturdy denim during the day, slipping into a wear-anywhere dress or a tailored jacket and skirt to a performance that evening. “For fall, the design team was inspired by the strong but easy-going style of jazz musicians, throwing on… Read more »

interview | paul forman

Posted by & filed under culture.

From Los Angeles, Paul Forman answers the call. He appears quite relaxed; he has been enjoying his time with his friends and fellow actors in California. He is cooking fresh pasta, watching tennis, and barbecuing in the garden. Recently, the actor from Emily in Paris has been splitting his time between L.A. and London, where he grew up. Even though Forman can’t recall much about his childhood, one thing is certain is that he attended a French school, and grew up bilingual. He even surprised us by speaking Spanish during our interview. In the Netflix series, he portrays Nicolas de Léon, a French businessman who attended boarding school in Switzerland. Although their stories might seem similar, their characters are quite the opposite. “Nicolas is wonderful for me to play, cause he’s so grounded and business-oriented, even slightly controlling, which are probably the three antonyms to describe myself,” he explains. But thanks to his upbringing Forman was certainly the perfect choice to play this role. “It was important for me to do it justice as someone who is bilingual. So although he does have an accent in English, I gave him an international one. Often in cinema, they tend to fall under the stereotype of… Read more »

the electronic beating heart of athens | primer festival + a conversation with kölsch

Posted by & filed under culture.

Modern-day Athens is a vibrant blend of ancient history and contemporary culture, where iconic monuments stand alongside busy nightlife streets, and traditional Greek values mix with the 21st-century lifestyle. Recently, however, Athens has emerged as a growing hub for electronic music, transforming into an underground hotspot for this genre. It’s no surprise, then, that Schön! visited PRIMER, the city’s largest and most prominent electronic dance festival. This event, which mixes this ancient history city with cutting-edge soundscapes, featured world-renowned artists such as Martin Garrix, Kölsch, and Eric Prydz. This year marked the 5th anniversary of PRIMER, a two-day 18-hour musical experience. Visitors were dazzled by an impressive 800-square-meter LED stage, celebrating the festival’s milestone with an unforgettable light show. Around midnight on the first day, attendees were invited to continue the party indoors at the AFTERHOURS stage, located at Water Square and the Faliro Sports Pavilion, where the raving lasted until the early morning. The festival featured an impressive lineup, including artists like Agents of Time, Argy, Morten, Gordo, Miss Monique, Juicy M, Tujamo, Christian Cambas, Nick Jojo, Pedrik, and Playmen. Festival-goers experienced an exciting mix of dance classics and innovative sets, offering a diverse range of electronic music styles…. Read more »

boredom

Posted by & filed under fashion.

Being Bored; a feeling that many people experience from time to time. It often occurs when we have nothing to do, or when the activities we’re involved in don’t feel stimulating or interesting. However, boredom can also have some positive aspects and can affect us in ways we might not always be aware of. In this Schön! editorial, photographer Claus Troelsgaard asks one central question: why do we get bored? Boredom often arises when we lack stimulation or variety. It can happen in situations where we don’t feel challenged or when we repeat the same actions without any sense of satisfaction. Our brain is constantly seeking new input and challenges, and when these are lacking, we can start to feel restless and bored. Troelsgaard uncovered that there are some positive aspects of being bored, like: Creativity: When we’re bored, our brain looks for ways to be stimulated. This can lead us to become more creative as we start thinking of new ideas and solutions to entertain ourselves. Self-Reflection: Boredom gives us time to think and reflect on our lives, goals, and values. It can be an opportunity for self-discovery and personal growth. Motivation for Change: The feeling of boredom can… Read more »
