aquazzura | the ss26 campaign

Sand and stiletto heels rarely get along, but Edgardo Osorio has always enjoyed a bit of a challenge. The mind behind Aquazzura recently packed up his finest Italian leathers and headed for the Red Sea to prove that luxury thrives even in the most extreme corners of the globe.

Since launching in Florence in 2011, the brand has built its reputation on the concept of ‘alegria.’ This translates to a sort of uninhibited happiness that shows up in every pair of shoes, regardless of whether they are destined for a yacht or a sandy dune. The creative director believes that fashion should lift the mood, a theory currently being tested as the brand opens its second boutique in Doha alongside existing spots in Riyadh and Dubai.

Desiree Mattsson took the lead behind the lens for the Spring/Summer 2026 campaign, casting Madisin Rian as a modern nomad navigating two very different landscapes. Being the first fashion house to ever gain access to these locations makes the visuals feel like a genuine discovery. They started at Shebara, a resort that looks like a futuristic mirage floating above the water with reflective stainless-steel orbs that appear as a string of pearls rising from the ocean floor. These structures almost merge the horizons between sea and sky, creating a backdrop that is entirely blue.

Hand-woven raffia and punchy colours immediately catch the attention within this cool setting. Shades of watermelon red, coral and spicy yellow pop against the intense lagoon, while the Palm Babe sunglasses in a bright lipstick red provide a cheeky finishing touch with their elongated upswept silhouette and scalloped edges. Styles like the Botanica and Birdsong sandals play with the geometric shapes of the overwater villas, showing off a level of skill that avoids any unnecessary complication.

The journey then moves inland to Desert Rock, where the scenery becomes far more dramatic. The resort is carved directly into ancient granite mountains, surrounded by heavy stone and shifting shadows. The atmosphere becomes sun-warmed and free, with earthy textures mirroring the natural beauty of the terrain. Styles such as the Ritmo sandal, featuring laminated snake print and delicate ankle ties, work with the natural sunbeams reflecting off the mineral walls.

The Bonita and Heatwave sandals also make an appearance here, using sculptural lines to mirror the rugged cliffs. For eyewear, Melrose frames and Palm Babe Crystal sunglasses add a layer of modernity to a setting that feels millions of years old.

The Spring/Summer 2026 collection tells a story of escape, focusing on a version of womanhood that is adventurous and joyful. Discover more here.
