Somewhere between a post-Pilates Erewhon smoothie and a Cannes Film Festival yacht party, ALO has found its natural habitat. The Los Angeles wellness empire is officially arriving on the French Riviera this summer with an aggressively sun-drenched expansion that stretches from Cannes to Saint-Tropez and straight onto the Mediterranean itself.

Founded in Los Angeles in 2007, the brand built its reputation by turning yoga wear into a full lifestyle proposition years before wellness became luxury’s favourite buzzword. Over the past few seasons, ALO has aggressively expanded beyond leggings and sports bras, entering the worlds of hospitality, beauty, supplements and members-only wellness clubs while positioning itself as a softer, more refined alternative to the performance-heavy image of traditional sportswear brands.

The expansion begins with the opening of ALO’s first French retail spaces: a Saint-Tropez boutique on Rue Gambetta followed by a second location directly on Cannes’ Boulevard de la Croisette. Both stores are stocked with menswear, womenswear and accessories, including the increasingly visible ALO bag line that has become a fixture of airport lounges and Pilates studios alike. But retail is only one piece of the operation. The more interesting move arrives at Hôtel Martinez, where ALO is temporarily transforming the pier into its own branded wellness enclave throughout the Cannes Film Festival season.

The Hôtel Martinez already occupies a near-mythical position on the Croisette. Since opening in 1929, the Art Deco landmark has hosted generations of actors, models and fashion executives descending onto Cannes every May. ALO’s takeover introduces a very contemporary layer to that old Riviera glamour: 40 custom-designed sunbeds dressed in creamy ivory, deep navy and warm caramel tones, paired with recovery-focused wellness programming and fresh juice menus delivered directly to guests lounging by the sea.

Pilates classes with Pike Studio, beachfront yoga sessions and guided runs along La Croisette all form part of the wider programme, while Saint-Tropez will host more intimate classes at Hôtel La Ponche, one of the town’s most storied hideaways once frequented by Brigitte Bardot and the Left Bank set.

The activation scales up the brand’s physical lifestyle ecosystem, marking its second major resort destination following a debut partnership at the Mandarin Oriental in Bodrum. “From studio to street, ALO elevates wellness into a daily luxury, and now we want to be present in the destinations where our community lives the season,” says Benedetta Petruzzo, Chief Executive Officer of International. “For me, it reflects exactly how we want to build ALO: close to our customers’ lives, with intention, and for the long term.”

Launched during the overlapping chaos of the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, the new ALO Voyage: Wellness Club at Sea introduces the brand’s first fully mobile wellness experience aboard a privately chartered 72-metre yacht. By invitation only, guests can access a rotating schedule of treatments and sessions ranging from Pilates and EMS training to lymphatic drainage massage, IV therapy and chiropractic recovery treatments.
