At this time of year you may feel that the cartoon image of a heart – usually plump in a reddish pink, often being held by a teddy bear – is a little over exposed. But today’s Valentine’s escape is a way to experience this romantic signifier in a way that couldn’t be more disparate than on those rows of blushing greetings cards. In a two hour helicopter ride, you can fly over the Great Barrier Reef, the magnificent Whitsunday Islands and of course the world famous heart reef. You’ll then land on Whitehaven Beach for some canapés and bubbles, then continue your tour by air taking in the outstanding view.
