After a heavy snow, the scene was sad and slushy – an apt manifestation of the bleak reality that New York Fashion Week was over – yet all of New York’s best came out for Calvin Klein, considered by many the biggest show on the New York schedule. Schön!‘s official photographer Ger Ger captures heavyweights like Michelle Harper and Marie Claire‘s Kyle Anderson as they deftly navigate the dark streets at NYFW’s end.

The stunningly beautiful Olivia Palermo has done a lot with her young life in such a short time span. She has delved deep into the four corners of the fashion world and is making a name for herself in the fashion industry.

You name it, Palermo has most likely done it; and done it with style. She has been a contributing editor for Vogue UK and Elle magazine, a model, a stylist, an actress, a judge on major TV programmes and a prominent philanthropist.

With the recent launch of her fashion, lifestyle and travel blog, Palermo now has one more thing to add her fashion résumé…Style Icon.

To get fashion, lifestyle and travel tips from Olivia Palermo and her team, visit her blog www.oliviapalermo.com

You have been a contributing editor for Vogue UK and Elle magazine and recently launched your own blog. How would you describe the person you aim to reach with the content of your blog?

I hope that anyone who goes on my blog can take away a little something from it. It is a fashion site with a lifestyle element to it. My team and I try to highlight fashion, art and museum stories that interest me and it is something I would like to share with readers.

You are a model, a stylist, a blogger, a judge on TV programmes, an actress and a committed charity figure. What are you most passionate about and why?

I have a great passion for everything I do. My blog is very dear to me; it gives readers a chance to see what I like in today’s fashion.

What would you say is most challenging about being in the public eye and followed by paparazzi?

I am not a negative person and I do not look at things as a burden. It is a part of the business I am in, and I am fortunate that I do have privacy in my life. At the end of the day my fans put the biggest smile on my face and remind me how lucky I am.

Who do you look up to? Could you name an artist or a person who influences your work ethos?

My inspirations come from everywhere and everyday; whether it’s architecture, films, my travels and so forth. I have always had structure in my life and that rolls over into my work ethic. I have to give my parents credit for keeping a structured lifestyle during my childhood.

You have been a guest judge on Britain’s Next Top Model as well as Project Runaway and a guest editor at Pipelime.com. What is fashionable and trendy for you?

I love seeing stylish girls on the streets of London, Tokyo, Paris, New York, or wherever I may be; they are my inspiration. I admire the working girl that shows an interest in fashion and has innate style. Trends are always relevant. They are great to balance into everyday style, but it is important to have a personal style before anything!

What would you say is the most creative thing you have done lately?

I loved designing a shoe for Stuart Weitzman. I have always been a big supporter of his 50/50 boots and when he approached me to design and help raise money for a charity dear to him; I was pleased to be able to contribute. I have always tried to give back in some way, and that is something that everyone can do as well.

Is there another field or skill you would like to acquire/explore?

Styling, I have a fantastic time with it. There are such talented designers out there, for example: Matthew Williamson, Erdem and Christopher Bailey. It makes it more fun having a chance to do more creative styling using their designs.

What can we expect from you next?

Modelling. I shoot with many talented photographers, and shoot in fantastic locations around the world.

Schön! 15 – ladies & gentlemen http://schonmagazine.com/schon-15-ladies-gentlemen/ http://schonmagazine.com/schon-15-ladies-gentlemen/#comments Tue, 20 Dec 2011 10:40:45 +0000 http://schonmagazine.com/?p=3369 ]]>

Ladies & Gentlemen

A banquet of exquisite beauty and intrigue is bestowed onto the pages of the 15th Issue of Schön! Magazine.

The ravishing Daisy Lowe graces Schön! as ‘The Lady’ of the Magazine, photographed by Yuval Hen and styled by our very own fashion editor Kay Korsh. Model, Sam Webb, features as our ‘Maltese Falcon’, shot by our esteemed photographer Dimitris Theocharis. James Cooper and David Gant, shot by Blair Getz Mezibov, inspire effortless elegance. Wearing the timelessly chic Gieves & Hawkes, they are true visions of nobility.

Our photo shoots, “Baccara”, “Svelte”, and “Contour”, will ease your winter chill. Nikola Jovanovic shot by Christos Karantzolas and styled by Kyle Anderson, dispenses a burst of neon to break the grey of winter. David Agbodji transforms into immortalised figures in his series of auto-portraits edited by Laurent Dombrowicz! Reminisce fondly on the “Sweet Sixties”, shot by Squiz Hamilton. Then later we’ll show you a darker side of the past in “Russian Criminal Tattoos” by Anne Combaz.

Hajime Machida’s poignant paint strokes mix the human and the mechanical, while Oleg Dou’s ambitious project blurs the line between paintings and photography. In addition, we present musician Casey Spooner, one half of the electro music duo Fischerspooner, in an interview by Vincent Urbani.

Issue 15 also brings you the words of geniuses such as Jany Temime, the costume designer for the Harry Potter films, Qiu Hao, a fresh new fashion designer from China, and the makers of the infamous children’s program Sesame Street. These incredible people will make you smile and laugh and appreciate their dedication to their respective crafts.

Readers indulge; meet the people, see their works, and enjoy the show!

Following the theme of androgyny in the 14th issue of Schön! Magazine, of course we had to include the beautiful and fascinating Serbian Australian transgender model Andrej Pejic.

With his platinum blonde hair and a feminine body to die for, Pejic made his first big appearance in Jean Paul Gaultier’s spring 2011 show in Paris, as well as walking for John Galliano, Paul Smith and Raf Simons that same season.

Since then his career has really taken off: he has been photographed by Mert&Marcus for an editorial in Vogue Paris, he has worked with renown fashion photographers Steven Meisel and Juergen Teller and has done a campaign for Marc Jacobs.

For issue 14 of Schön!, photographer Christos Karantzolas and stylist Kyle Anderson perfectly capture Pejic’s astonishingly elegant looks. The girl’s got attitude!

STRIKE!

Where to begin with our amazing 14th issue? Our latest offering is like a lucky dip of treats, each prize as lovely as the last. We’re opening our issue with a double cover with two emerging heavyweights of the fashion industry: Andrej Pejec with Allure, and Rick Genest with Undercover. Shot by Christos Karantzolas, Andrej Pejec, Jean Paul Gaultier’s choice pick, shows us the right way to approach the theme of androgyny, taking it from a totally new angle and raising it to new heights, where he simply drips glamour and style, clutch handbag and all!

The amazing and enigmatic Canadian based Rick Genest, otherwise known as Zombie Boy, shot to fame for his remarkable full body tattoos of a human skeleton and decomposing flesh, shows us the attitude and charisma that has kept him firmly in fashion’s good-books. Shot by Matthew Lyn, and styled by our very own fashion editor Kay Korsh, he even gives us a peek at his true face under his signature tattoos, giving Schön! a very privileged exclusive!

As you pass through the pages, you’ll join on us on our globe trekking adventure, where we pick up the very best of international creative talent along the way – as always! Hye Jung Lee and Lina Zhang continue the theme of Allure with a sharp and edgy twist, showing us a new side to ‘Asian Girls’, as captured by our fave of the moment, Christos Karantzolas. Think glamour, steeped in patent leather and statement shades, and you’ll have the picture! As we celebrate our recent print distribution to China we also speak with Hung Huang, hailed as the Chinese Oprah Winfrey, and gain an earnest insight into her truly inspiring upbringing in her home country, and impressive rise to fame as a woman in a largely patriarchal society. We also skip over to Spain with beautiful actress Ivana Baquero, who talks to us about how she went from her school uniform to the big screen in a heartbeat, displaying her new found prowess with lensman Sergi Pons.

Now have you ever wondered who gets to create the amazing super hero costumes, or the haunting creatures that feature in all of your favourite blockbusters? We talk to Christian Beckman of Quantum Creation FX who is responsible for many of the ‘marvel’-ous makeup effects and costumes that make cinema seem so very real. Then from bringing heroes and legends to life, we speak to a real life legend in photography, Oliviero Toscani, where we give to you the most candid interview of the iconic figure, which will certainly leave you with an impression of the well accomplished man.

Revelling in the gloriously vintage, Mary Pierce and Sebastien Mercier bring us straight back to the mid 20th century, rejoicing in the timeless class of a past era of fashion, shot by Anne Combaz and styled by the keen eye of Laurent Dombrowicz, who also works his magic in our gloriously dark ‘Better The Devil You Know’ feature. With his rugged beard and manly scowl, Mateus Verdelho is the epitome of masculinity in the aptly named ‘Draconic’, where Omar Macchiavelli captures the gentleman within from this fiercely handsome model. And there is so much more!

So join us in luxuriating in the international magnetism of this issue, and the thrill of uncovering the gems that we have in store. We will not disappoint!
