Now that the summer is finally here, you might be thinking of celebrating in Europe’s party capital, but don’t forget that – as well as famous nightclubs attracting world class DJs – Ibiza offers fine dining and fantastic design hotels. Schön! samples some of the island’s culinary delights.

The temperature is rising, so start your day at Ocean Beach where the DJs hit the decks from 1pm, spinning a different sound each day. We recommend KISS FM’s KISSTORY, a combination of the best Old Skool and Anthems every Tuesday. With its 600m2 swimming pool, sunset roof garden and range of lounging options, the club is the perfect venue to party, chill out or celeb spot, depending on your mood.

It’s also the place to grab a light, or not so light, lunch al fresco, as there’s something here to cater to all tastes, from sinful sliders to saintly superfood salads. We enjoyed an impressive selection of sushi (platters of up to 60 pieces are available if you’re dining in a group), as well as a Mixed Thai Platter, with dim sum, gyozas, tempura and satay. However, the icing on the cake was the dessert. The Choco Dream is heaven sent for chocoholics and the Banoffee Pie is to die for. Wash it all down with some Veuve Clicquot or a signature cocktail.

Suitably suntanned, it’s time to head back to your hotel and get ready for the evening’s festivities. OD Talamanca, which opened last summer, provides a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of San Antonio. The 5 Star boutique hotel, situated at Talamanca beach, offers sleek interiors and spectacular views of the sea and of Ibiza’s Old Town (a World Heritage Site).

Architect Victor Rahola has created a contemporary but refined space using a combination of traditional mortar-free stone, lime washed and exposed concrete walls, large wooden windows and parquet, while interior designer Mayte Matutes has filled it with bespoke textiles and iconic items of furniture, including James Eames and Arne Jacobson pieces. The latest technology is paired with sustainability, including a state-of-the-art geothermal heating system and Canadian cedar and bamboo from eco-friendly managed forests.

If you really want to spoil yourself, book one of the two-story Duplex Apartment Suites, which come with the benefits of a roof-top terrace with private swimming pool and your own Smart Cabrio car to zip around the island. But every guest can enjoy the complimentary minibar and sea view from their room, VIP access to some of the Ibiza’s most famous clubs and stellar service from the amiable and helpful staff. Recline on a Bali bed by the pool or at the stunning Sky Bar, while enjoying the ‘Après Beach’ cocktails and finger food as the resident DJ gears you up for a night out.

Still feeling hungry? Head to STK, the first Spanish outpost of the global steakhouse brand, which opened on the island last July. Split over two floors, the restaurant can cater for 250 guests. A DJ booth and central catwalk stage provide a high energy programme of music and live entertainment, but if you’re after a more tranquil experience, there is also a low-lit bar and ocean view terrace.

As for the menu, of course steak is the main attraction. “What makes us stand out,” explains chef Alex Puddifoot, “is that we are focused on the quality of the steaks by only using USDA prime. The entertainment is just a great add on to the guest experience. The locals have taken to the place, but we also get a lot of British guests that have dined in the London site and in America. What they like is the fact that the quality is the same throughout.”

Seafood is another speciality, with a raw bar offering Japanese oyster shots and Norwegian king crab, but we opted for the delicious Scallop Ceviche with blood orange, coriander and lime. Classic comfort food is also given a twist in the form of Lobster Fish Fingers with wasabi aioli or a Lobster Mac & Cheese. Vegetarians should sample the Cep & Wild Garlic Risotto with tarragon cream or the Stuffed Courgette Flowers. Finish up with a Churro Milkshake with dulce de leche ice cream or Cinnamon Liquor & Churro Bites.

With your stomach satisfied, it’s time to cater to your craving for nightlife. Luckily, you can look forward to a post-party lie-in with the reassurance that OD Talamanca’s tasty breakfast is served until noon.
