Face paint cannot begin to describe the makeup crafted by Gulum Erzincan. With a diamond hanging from the white canvas of her nose and face, symmetrical red flowers weave up from Alise’s chin— as a particularly large diamond hangs from her already diamond-studded choker. Culture express brings you a mesh of cultures all the way from Asian to Slavic roots— from theatrical wooden shoes and woven-basket like dresses to stunning diamond chokers and dragon inspired face paint. Combining natural materials such as wood and stiff fibers with that of decadent diamonds and bright colored acrylics— stylist Mert Yemenicioglu demonstrates that not only has cultural immersion been affected by time but also by the influence of technological advancements.
