Admit One by Saga Sig/
In ‘Admit One’ photographer Saga Sig captures the crux of legendary movie characters in a modern day twist. We start with Rachael from ‘Blade Runner’ who takes on the tough essence of her famous quote “I’m not in the business…I am the business” in a black leather constructed dress by PPQ clad with a high collar and spiked enclosure. Mia Wallace from ‘Pulp Fiction’ also exudes a modern take on Uma Thurman’s character with pink hair, the classic painted on lip and sexy pose capturing her persona. Moving through this shoot is like attending multiple cinema shows in one swoop as we meet Veronica from ‘Heathers,’ Andrew Clark from ‘Breakfast Club,’ Padmé Amidala from Star Wars and finishing off with Lila Crane from ‘Physco.’ Styled by Anna Trevelvan in designs by Gucci, House on Holland, New Era, McQ and Lacoste, the cinematic feel of this shoot is captured in style.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE/
Photographer and filmmaker Amanda Demme, along with her producing partner Stephanie Westcott, take you on a personally curated visual tour of some of the finest craftsman in the fashion, art and entertainment industries. Inspired by Demme’s current fine art series “THREAD”, which captures each subject in an environment reminiscent of 19th century portrait paintings, Demme’s personal admiration for the individuals’ photographed results in a collaboration of artist with artist. Her unique approach to lighting and textures, coupled with her passion for art direction and wardrobe, has provided the tools for writer Mark Jacobs to exemplify Demme’s work of spotlighting these innovators: set designer who works with esteemed fashion photographers, Mary Howard; cocktail waitress turned successful casting director, Laray Mayfield; film editor and Academy Award winner, Angus Wall; writer and creator of Glee and American Horror Story, Brad Falchuk; music video director at the height of MTV’s influence from the ‘90s until present, Mark Romanek; theatre director, choreographer and 2011 Tony Award winner, Casey Nicholaw; book publisher and creator of artistic network/art gallery OHWOW, Aaron Bondaroff; pop artist turned successful film scorer, Michael Penn; cinematographer with an Oscar-nominated documentary, Ellen Kuras; and costume designer and 2011 Oscar winner, Mark Bridges.

Azealia Banks/
If there were ever an artist to push the limits of hip-hop’s image and lingo, sassy rapper Azealia Banks is the rising star to instill a whole new idea of the rudimentary and fearless beats to come. The 21-year-old Harlem native has grown up with an intense passion to perform and to have the freedom to make her own mistakes and instill an upbeat take on her life experiences through music. Don’t let her age fool you, this potty-mouthed firecracker is sure to continually surprise the world of hip-hop, with her next expenditure being the release of her raunchy album Broke with Expensive Taste.

Dressing for Pleasure/
It was our pleasure to welcome Brett Bailey as guest curator and creative director of this very special Showbiz edition of Schön! Bailey was born a star. With his mantra of ‘dressing for pleasure’ and conception of fashion as a performance, he is the embodiment of the glamorous showbiz lifestyle. He attributes his fearless attitude towards dressing-up to his quirky and eccentric grandmother, Betty, who encouraged him to be comfortable in his own skin and express his individuality from a young age.
Described as a ‘tornado of talent’ in his younger years as a professional dancer, it was not long before he found his feet in the world of showbiz. His unique sense of style and love of the finest labels in fashion inspired him to make a name for himself as a fashion stylist in Los Angeles. Since then he has worked with some of the biggest names in the fashion and entertainment world, including Nicki Minaj and Rihanna, daringly pushing boundaries in fashion.
In a show stopping photo shoot for Schön! reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour and cabaret, the mesmerising Bailey shows off his fearless theatrical side. American photographer Elias Tahan plays with cross-dressing in this sensual fashion editorial titled ‘Dressing for Pleasure’. Enter the charismatic Bailey with glossy slicked back hair and dark, dramatic make-up. He poses in tights, jackets, dresses, coats and bodysuits by Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jeremy Scott, Pamella Roland, Impero Couture, Moschino, Emanuel Ungaro, Victor & Rolf, Calvin Klein and The Blonds. The stylist’s own beautifully crafted, carnivalesque head pieces take centre stage while accessories from Balenciaga, Oliver Peoples, Mishka Piaf, M. Stevens, Alexander Wang and Armani complete the looks. Styled by Brett Bailey himself, this monochrome photo shoot will surely intrigue you and appeal to your theatrical side.
